>> Tour Duration: Full Day
>> Meal Plan: Lunch At 13h00
>> Accommodation: The Aiyana Resort
After breakfast, we will drive to kidlike Flying Fox Forest to watch the friendly bates of Pemba – Gigantic fruit bates indigenous to Pemba island which gives visitors a great opportunity to see these creatures up close. Gathering in mixed-sex groups of up to 850 individuals to roost, the Pemba flying fox creates quite a spectacle. These are Africa’s largest bat species, a type of fruit bat with a wing span of up to 70cm and can weigh in at around half a kilo. We will spend here no more than 1 hour before we drive to Ngezi Rain Forest. This forest reserve is covering an area of 3,600 acres, mostly comprising primary forest. Mjoho is the most common tree species of Ngezi’s moist forest. Its canopy can be up to 35 meters above the ground. Another common species in Ngezi is the Mgulele, its broad crown which can grow up to 45 meters. There are also monkeys, bush babies, fruit bats, different kinds of birds, flowers, species, and natural lakes. If you are interested, we can take some more time with you visiting the “cultural areas “ these are parts of the forest that are sacred and people periodically sweep and clean them to appease their ancestors. These sacred places called “MIZIMU” are used for prayers, requests, and offerings to the spirits of the dead.

After spending maybe one or two hours, we will then drive to Vumawimbi Beach, an immaculate beach with miles of white sand flanked by a pristine forest. Vumawimbi is the longest beach in East Africa and one of the best places to relax, soak up the sun and take a break from some busy sightseeing. We will spend 10 – 30 minutes before we drive back to the Hotel for lunch and leisure. Dinner and overnight stay on a half-board basis.

Day 03: Explorer South
>> Tour Duration: Full Day
>> Meal Plan: Lunch at Misali Sunset Beach
>> Accommodation: The Aiyana Resort
We take breakfast in the morning before we leave for Chake Chake at 08h00 to explore the southern part of the island. In this full-day tour which also includes lunch, we will go on a spice tour, visit the oil distillery and finish with a Chake Chake tour in town. Upon arrival at Mtambwe Village, your Tour Guide will escort you on a walking tour of the spice farms. This is where you can see a variety of spices including cloves, lemongrass, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, black pepper, and vanilla before visiting the oil distillery factory in Chake Chake Town where you will see how spices are made into oil. From here we drive further down to Chake Town for lunch and proceed with the Sightseeing tour. The Business Town and the Capital of Pemba Island, Chake Chake is located in the middle of Pemba island about 15 minutes drive from Karume Airport. The tour offers a great chance for history and culture lovers to know and understand the history of Pemba through time. Lots of key buildings are still in place. The Guide will take you around to visit some of the most interesting sites and historical buildings such as the old Slave Port, the Old fort, the English Garden and the Fish Market, etc. After the tour, we drive back to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay on half board basis.

Day 04: Misali Island Tour
>> Tour Duration: Full Day
>> Meal Plan: Picnic Lunch at 13h00
>> Accommodation: The Aiyana Resort
At 08h00 after breakfast, we drive to Wesha where we will take our boat to Misali island. This island is world famous for its corals and nature. The island offers idyllic beaches and nature trails. Misali’s treasure is its rich ecosystem which boasts 42 types of corals, over 300 species of fish, a rare subspecies of vervet monkeys, rarely seen coconut crabs, and a nesting site for green and hawksbill turtles. Snorkeling here is breathtaking! Even close to the beach, it’s possible to see bigger fish. Unlike most places in Pemba, the tides make no difference to these activities. Among the locals, Misali has religious status as they believe the prophet Hadhara used the island as his prayer mat. The strong Islamic environmental maintenance ethic is used to support management and environment education, and the island is a ‘sacred gift’ to the earth from the Islamic faith as part of an ecumenical Millennium celebration arranged by the World Wildlife Fund in Nepal in November 2000. After the tour, we take lunch and relax until late afternoon when we drive back to the hotel for leisure and dinner, and stay overnight on a half-board basis.

Day 05 – 06: Leisure Day
>> Activity: Full Leisure Days
>> Meal Plan: Half Board
>> Accommodation: The Aiyana Resort
You have 2 leisure days which you can use for leisure or extra activities. If you are interested in marine excursions, the Indian Ocean floor is hard to beat. Many of its islands and atolls are protected by a coral barrier that creates lagoons of emerald water, perfect for snorkeling. On the other side of the reef, more experienced divers can find underwater landscapes that will take your breath away. With a tropical climate, the water temperature never drops below 22ºC, which means almost any time of the year is good for diving. The visibility exceeds 40 meters at some dive sites, so you can even give yourself the luxury of going on a night dive. Put on your fins and enjoy the action! Otherwise, you can have a leisure walk to discover the nearby village life, go to Chake Chake for sightseeing or just stay idol at the Hotel. Dinner and stay overnight on a half-board basis.

Day 07: Departure
>> Airport Travel Duration: 1.30 Hours
>> Meal Plan: Breakfast Only
Depending on your flight time, after breakfast you can relax on the beach, lie beside the swimming pool reading your books or just walk around the village as you wait for your pick-up time to Pemba Airport to catch your flight to Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar or to any other destination. However, we suggest you stay on the beach and fly at 15h30 to Dar es salaam or Zanzibar so that you can have enough time to relax and enjoy yourself on the beautiful beach. End of the tour.
